The Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Ceremony The Law Enforcement Officers Memorial will be held at Tropical Park starting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014.  All officers who have died in the line of duty dating back to 1895 are honored at this ceremony.  It is our duty to remember the officers who have died protecting and serving the citizens of Miami-Dade County.  I cannot express how important it is to all of the surviving family members to look out into the crowd and see all of the officers from different agencies in attendance.

The Tour de Force bicycle ride was held from April 7–11, 2014. This is a statewide law enforcement unity ride that raises funds and awareness for the families of these four officers who were killed in the line of duty in Florida in 2013:
Deputy Daniel Rivera, Broward Sheriff’s Office, EOW September 21, 2013
Sgt. Michael Wilson Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, EOW August, 5, 2013
Master Deputy Joseph “Shane” Robbins Polk County Sheriff’s Office, EOW April 26, 2013
Sgt. Gary Morales, St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, EOW February 28, 2013
The ride averages 50 miles a day starting in North Miami Beach and ending in Daytona Beach with officers from across the state participating. There were over 70 riders who participated the entire week riding 250 miles and as many as 225 riders on any given day. The POAT has supported this ride for many years but, this was the first year I participated and it was a great experience! I would recommend this ride to everyone regardless of level of riding experience. Check out the Tour de Force website at Florida Tour de Force. Thank you to everyone that participated in this ride and the North Miami Beach Police Department which took the lead in the logistic planning of the event, and did a great job..

On Saturday, April 5, 2014, the POAT Walk Team participated in the Walk to Cure Diabetes at Zoo Miami. The POAT walk team raised $54,200 in sponsorship and donations. Since 2004, when POAT joined the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation by participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes, we have raised $681,597.  That’s something we can all be proud of! Thanks to everyone for your continued support year after year.

Donations are always welcome, any time of year.  If you would like to make a one-time or recurring donation please click here.
Thanks for your support and stay safe.
