“By all these lovely tokens September days are here, With summer’s best of weather and autumn’s best of cheer.”
– Helen Jackson
At the July POAT board meeting, Mitch Morrall representing the Orange Bowl Committee presented a check for $2,500 to benefit the POAT scholarshipfunds. The Orange Bowl Committee has supported POAT in this fashion the past several years. We are extremely appreciative and grateful to them for supporting POAT.
On Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 9:00 a.m., the 9-11 Ceremony will be held at the Law Enforcement Memorial site in Tropical Park.  POAT sponsors this ceremony every year in conjunction with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to remember and honor all of the heroes who were killed September 11, 2001.  It is important that we never forget all of the heroes who perished that day.  Please make every effort to attend.
On September 13, 2014 the “South District Boys” are coordinating a motorcycle ride in remembrance of fallen officer Jose Somohano who was killed in the line of duty on September 13, 2007. The ride will begin at Cutler Ridge Station at 9:00 a.m. and ultimately end at the Law Enforcement Memorial at Tropical Park. Contact M. Rodriguez at (786)760-7331 or email for registration information.
The Motorcycle Ride to benefit POAT’s Holiday Gifts for Surviving Children will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at 9 a.m.  The ride begins at the Miami-Dade Police Department Headquarters Building, 9105 N.W. 25 Street.  Registration for the event is $20 per bike.  Online registration will be available as of October 1, 2014.  A POAT coin will be given to each registered rider (while supplies last).  Please contact Rudy Gonzalez, 305-471-2765, or the POAT office for details at
