The Cutler Bay Policing Unit is coordinating the first Black and Blue Fun Run to raise funds for POAT. The run will be held on Saturday November 22, 2014 at 20601 Old Cutler Road. Registration starts at 4:00 pm. The race starts at 5:30 pm. This is a 5K run/walk in uniform, with a BBQ to follow the race, for all participants. All runners/walkers must raise a minimum of $200.  Contact Miami-Dade Police Cutler Bay NRU for further details at (305) 234-4237. Pledges will be collected from participants on race day.  Pledges can also be made online by clicking here. Specify in the comments section: “Black and Blue Fun Run” and the “name of the participant” you are sponsoring.

The Holiday Gifts for Surviving Children fundraising begins in November.  POAT volunteers staff tables set up at Aventura Mall, Dadeland Mall, The Falls Shopping Center, Shops at Sunset Place, and Southland Mall.  The coordinators are:

This is the only time of year when POAT is in a public setting and has the opportunity to explaining what we are about.   This year, we will purchase gifts for 62 surviving children. A large contingent of volunteers is needed to fill all of the vacancies at the various malls. Please do your part by targeting a mall where you would like to assist and contact the coordinator. The tables open on Black Friday, November 28th and will be set up until December 23rd.

The Motorcycle Ride to benefit POAT’s Holiday Gifts for Surviving Children will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at 9 a.m.  The ride begins at the Miami-Dade Police Department Headquarters Building, 9105 N.W. 25 Street.  Registration for the event is $20 per bike.  Online registration will be available as of October 1, 2014.  A POAT coin will be given to each registered rider (while supplies last).  Please contact Rudy Gonzalez atcopsrideforkids@aol.com, 305-471-2765, or the POAT office for details at poatoffice@msn.com.

Continue to remember POAT during your plea bargain negotiations.  If you have a defendant who requests to pay a fine in lieu of serving community service hours, you can request that the funds be sent to POAT.  Payment can be made in person, mailed to our office at 1030 NW 111th Avenue, Suite 232, Miami FL 33172 or paid online atwww.poat.org.  What better way to support the families of fallen officers and those in critical need?Check out POAT’s website to keep abreast of all of the events and fundraisers that are taking place.
